Central Murray Credit Union Limited has announced the closure of its Cobram Branch located at 73 Punt Road on Friday 16th October 2020.

Recent years have seen the changing nature within the banking sector has escalated at a significant pace with more customers preferring to bank online.

The Coronavirus Pandemic has further accelerated the transition to online banking to such an extent that currently 90% of all banking transactions are electronic, either through “tap and go”, telephone banking or online banking.

The disruption and closure of many businesses due to lockdowns imposed as a result of the Coronavirus Pandemic has had a significant impact on our local and national economy and will continue to do so for a considerable time ahead.

 It is important for every business to act in the best interests of their entire member/customer base and restructure their business model for the changing times ahead.

CEO John Pattison said” This has been an extremely difficult decision for the Board and Management to make.  We opened the Cobram office in 2002, and over the past 18 years have invested heavily in the Cobram – Barooga and outlying districts. Many strong relationships have developed between Members and Organisations during this time and it is our intention to continue these relationships.

 All Central Murray Credit Union members within the Cobram/Barooga area have access to their accounts 24/7 via Visa Debit Card, Net Banking, Phone Banking and CMCU App.

We are there to assist any member in regard to their banking needs and will contact all members affected by the closure of the Cobram branch.
